Liguori Researching Possible New St. Louis Location
LIGUORI, MO.—The Redemptorists of the Denver Province announce they are researching sites in the St. Louis area for a possible relocation of Liguori Publications, their flagship publishing house.
“An outside consulting company has advised that we consolidate the property in Liguori, Missouri, as part of an overall plan,” said Very Reverend Stephen Rehrauer, CSsR, Provincial Superior.
Liguori Publications is headquartered on a 135-acre tract of land off I-55 that is about 25 miles south of St. Louis in Jefferson County. The entire Liguori campus includes a healthcare center, a convent, a cemetery, and a mission house. The land was purchased in 1947 when Liguori Publications was founded.
The Province plans to retain the land closest to I-55 where the healthcare center, convent and cemetery are located. Only the land west of the cemetery, where the publishing house and the mission house are located, is being considered for possible lease or sale. In preparation, the Redemptorists at the mission house relocated to the healthcare center to form one religious community on December 31.
“We will only relocate Liguori Publications if it makes financial sense to do so. If we do decide to relocate, Liguori Publications will remain in the St. Louis area,” Father Rehrauer said.
“However, before any decision is made to relocate the company we must perform an accurate cost analysis. Although we are only in the initial stages of what might be a long process, we want to be transparent. We are announcing that we are looking into a possible relocation of Liguori Publications—even if it is only a possibility at this time.”
