Professional Bio

I'm Bill Townsend, a developmental editor, copyeditor, and copywriter. Since 2010, I have worked in Catholic publishing. Until May 2024 I was the senior manuscript editor for Liguori Publications, where I edited parish bulletins, sacramental preparation and trade books, newsletters, and the entire Liguorian magazine.

With a son active in high school football and other activities, I decided to work from home full time, starting last year, when I began editing bulletins and rewriting books on a freelance basis for Ascension Press.

Previous professional experience also includes writing and editing for the publications of the St. Louis Cardinals, and as an employee communications specialist for AT&T Yellow Pages. With the Cardinals, I wrote the white paper that helped influence President Obama to award Stan Musial the Presidential Medal of Freedom. At AT&T, I was the key employee communicator as the company grew from serving five states to 22.

I am skilled in the Chicago Manual and AP stylebooks, as well as in the Adobe and Microsoft suites. I am available freelance and as a staffer.
