Lawrence Named Vice President, Saint Mary’s Press
Sara Lawrence has been named Vice President of Saint Mary’s Press and will assume full oversight and leadership of the publishing house that has been a ministry of the Christian Brothers of De LaSalle since 1943. Lawrence will be the third vice president in the history of the Press and the first to serve as the publisher and have complete responsibility for all day-to-day leadership as well as strategic and visionary leadership.
“Sara first brought her talents to us as marketing intern in 2006,” says John M. Vitek, President & CEO, “and since then she has grown into a remarkable leader within the organization, helping us build an extraordinary marketing communications team, eLearning group, web development team and our Ministry Care Team.” Lawrence is a graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with degrees in Management and Public Relations.
“It’s an exciting time for the Press,” says Lawrence. “Simply put, our mission has always been to do what’s best for kids–it’s the heart of what we do every day! We’re excited to continue driving the Lasallian vision forward with innovation, and accompany those in ministry in ways that will encourage their hearts and inspire their minds for the good of young people.”
Lawrence will take over the leadership of the publishing enterprise amidst an exciting time of expansion of the various brands operated under the parent organization of Saint Mary’s Press of Minnesota, Inc., a Lasallian ministry of the Christian Brothers of the Midwest District. Lawrence assuming the Vice President role will allow Vitek to focus on the birthing of new initiatives that respond to the shifting realities of ministry and young people outside of educational publishing.
Saint Mary’s Press is non-profit Catholic publisher, operated as a ministry of the Christian Brothers of De La Salle Midwest Province, to provide a human and Christian education of the young, especially the poor.
